Always love reading Dave Trott and this article resonated with me when I thought about the similarities described, and our own Talent and Resourcing industry. We've seen a similar rise in recruitment-related technology; from applicant tracking systems to video interviewing platforms and automated assessment portals.
But how much do we clarify and act upon what the candidate....and indeed the hiring manager....actually want and need? Is the constant march of technology trampling on the optimum human experience, causing a lack of engagement, inefficient recruitment processes and ultimately barriers to successful and cost-effective hiring?
It's vital to keep visualising the end-to-end process from the eyes of the candidate and tailor the deployment of technology in harmony with this.
He would start with people and what they wanted, instead of starting with technology and what it could do.
