A word was used in a meeting this week which after being explained made perfect sense.
That word was 'Ghosting'
Apparently often used in dating circles for a no-show, it's now being used within the recruitment and employment arena.
This very same week I heard on the radio that millennials are also ghosting their employers. Simply not handing in their notice and walking out on the job. never to be heard from again.
Let's face it ghosting on assessment centres is pretty common, and no matter how much contact you have some people simply will not show. It's sad, you'll never find out why, but would you rather those people do it at assessment or once they're in full time employment.
‘Ghosting’, in TA-world, is when a once enthused and reachable candidate becomes incommunicado without warning. This can happen at any stage of hiring, including between signing a contract and the starting day.
